Ok, so to start, I'd like to propose that Mordor, Da Jhur' Gah and Rowanoak start talking about renting a bus and driving to Rag 08' next year. Why am I proposing this?
1.) Cheaper! If we get enough people to go gas and the rental will be cheaper than flights. By a long shot!
2.) More cargo! If we have a big assed van or bus, we can take EVERYTHING. Why go with the bare minimum in the way of Garb, small tent, one or two weapons, and MAYBE a shield, when you could take EVERYTHING? ALL your weapons, armor, and shields! a HUGE SEXY tent/yert! Enough garb for two changes a day! Your DOG! Accoutrement! Shrunken heads! Banners! Beer Keg! Huge kettle drum! You name it!
3.) Unity! We might all be camping in different places, but we will arrive and depart together. Colorado will make it's presence known. We could even paint the van in shoe polish and tie crap to the grille.
What are the down sides? Not much really...
1) Extra time. This is the only one I suspect people will have a problem with. Add a good two solid days to the trip if we do this. Approx. 20 hours drive time. If done in shifts, that could be handled in a day each way.
2) Conflict of interests. Do we all get along? I like everyone, do you?
Please discuss. Lets get this figured out WAY early so we can maybe find some deals or...you know...scrap the whole thing.

I love the idea for a bus, to Ragnarok or to CW ! ( CW is closer... less gas ) The part I'm leery on is; Will enough people actually chip in and pay their share ? At first every one is like " Yeah I want to go" but then when it gets closer, people start saying, "Oh, I can't get the time off of work" etc. etc. In my experience, the swordfighting demographic isn't the most reliable bunch I would LOVE to be proved wrong on this though. A bus ride would be a lot of fun. How much will the overall cost be for the rental and gas ?

SHIT! I hate roman numerals! Arg! Anyway, Yes, I have to agree with you Cryn, foam fighting does attract some flakes, BUT we have a pretty good idea of who the trust-worthy people are, AND if we can get say...10 people to "pre-reg" for the bus, then we can safely say that we are covered. If we can't get 10, then if we can get 5, we can do a smaller van..maybe with a rack or small trailer on the back. The truth be told, I'm probably going to do this either way, but I'm only going to get one big enough for what I want to take if no one else wants to do it that way. I WILL be going to Rag this coming year. I WILL be driving so that I can take everything I want. and I WILL be kicking mucho ass and orc-ing it up like an old pro in the process. It would just be more fun with more people going with me. =)
Oh, and Soo, I WILL be going to CW next year. Come hell or high water. Those are the only two major events I will definitely be attending after this Equinox. I may go to Beltaine this fall, but I've got Rag and CW pretty much blocked off already.
Oh the mound of shit I will be bringing to events from now on.. It's to cry for.

And now I'm thinking of a grand idea. I can charge a "baggage" fee for people who will be flying to Rag and want more of their stuff to be at the event! $20 a bag! That could effectively cut the gas and rental down AND contribute to Western foam fighters good times at Rag or CW! OH! DA CLEVERNESS AM MEEE!
