Lately I've been getting together patterns and cloth for making my garb and I was wondering if there were any specific types that I should steer clear of or others that I should make a beeline towards. Also, Cryn, what is your skirt made out of? From looking at the pics it has the kind of consistancy that I'm looking for. Thanks.

I've done it too, nothing to be embarassed about. As long as it's period (and you should know your costuming) It should be fine. Two things: There are usually two kinds of garb most of us have: Battle and Dress. Dress is just fancy stuff you go to feast or sin night(if anything at all) in. Battle must be durable, breathable, easy to move in and hard to stain(if you care about stains (easy to stain if your an Orc)). I recomend for pants the tried and true sweat pants with the elastic bottoms cut off(black is good, takes a lot to make it look dirty). Some nice broke in black or brown plain leather boots and a tabard or a tunic to go over the rest of you. Even though the guys would love to see you not, it's best to wear at least a sports bra with the tabard.

It so depends on your character and fighting styles. I personally use nothing but thick muslin and wool. They drape well and both are extremely durable in combat situations. As far as "dress" garb is concerned, I dont have any experience so I'll leave that to the well dressed crowd.

I pretty much use whatever I can find that I like....being Orc an all, though I try to stay with blacks and reddish colors. An I rarely hem anything, it's easier and provides for faster wear, which I like.
