I'd like to put together Frequently Asked Questions.
New and Veteran players, could you please post common questions about Swordfighting for me ? Or terms that you could use a definition for ?
I'd like to add this info to a future newbie packet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's some info that inspired me, it was posted by Derian on the Bel board.
Realms: Based off of your geographical location. Usually confined to a city or small region.
Unit: A group of people that chooses to fight together for whatever reason, be it friendship, characterization, common interests, etc. Some units are based entirely within one realm (a local unit) or have members in many realms (a national unit).
House: Originally like a unit, but not necessarily for fighting purposes, has pretty much now become synonymous with unit
Clan/Guild/anything else: Has no widely accepted meaning

Heres some questions that i think some new guys would ask (Not me though i already know all the answers to these questions ) 1:Can i come to practice dressed a Ninja/Pirate? 2:Can i use an awesome giant sword like the one in Final fantasy!? 3:Can i use couch foam to make a sword? 4:How much would it cost to make a sword shield and garb? 5:Ragnawha? 6:Do i have to pay to play? I hope they help out! These are simple to answer and may help newer people out. 1. Yes, you can but if you get a few weird looks don't worry. Just as long as it looks somewhat realistic it will be fine 2. You CAN but it is REALLY hard to use a weapon of that size unless you are a bigger person 3. Not for the main part of the weapon. Couch foam, which is an open celled foam is used for stabbing tips for weapons and arrow heads. 4. Right around 40 bucks or so. Please ask me how and I will gladly show you the cheapest way to make decent gear! 5. Ragnarok. It is the norse end of the wrold. Plus it is the name of our biggest national event. not sure of the numbers last year at Rag 23 but at 22 it was some where around 1200+ people camping and around 800+ on the field. 6. My favorite.... NO. You do not have to pay to play this wonderful game. You only have to pay to keep your gear in good condition Thanks for the awsome post Telemachus! Good thinking!

Good questions ! 1: Sure thing, live your own fantasy. You'll be more dressed up then some of the veterans ! Just don't show up dressed as a trekkie or any star wars characters 2: You can, but you won't be able to weild it very well, and you may hit people in the head a lot on accident. I'd advise against it. 3: see lizard's answer 4:sword approx $30, sheild depends on the core, Garb varies, you could make a T tunic for the price of 3 yards of fabric and some thread. 5: www.dagorhir.com/ragnarok has all the info you need. Last year attendance was over 1400 !! 6: Mordor does not collect dues. We do ask for donations or help when we have BBQ's. National events have gate fees that range from $15 to $45.
