:'(So last Sunday practice and the practice before that, we had allot of new under 18 kids sign up and show up with their PARENTS! Because they saw recreation nation on TV and wanted to join up.
This week not one of them showed up. Why? Well my best guess is that its because their parents wouldn't let them come back because of our behavior at the park! Last Sunday especially! I heard my self many many times some of us saying how hard it is to fight ion drugs or how they wanted to get home to smoke a bowl. and lots of other colorful language. now i know we are all used to our group and our habits and that doesn't bother most of us. but to these new kids parents its reason enough not to let them play anymore. and some of you may not care about this! but i do! i care because we need more players and we need high school kids who want to play to spread the sport to other kids so it can expand and grow and still be around when our kids have kids who want to play. in short please watch what you say and who you say it in front of when your on the field. and remember some of these kids don't fit in anywhere els and need something like this to keep them out of trouble and help them gain self esteem! its important that all dag players no matter what age group. have a safe and fun time on the field. and lets face it, the minors have to listen to their parents and if they don't like us the kids can't play.
No i must spend my lunch break calling these kids parents to apologize and convince them we are not just a bunch of drug addicts and that their kids are safe when they come out to the field. And i hope they will let them keep coming out because a couple of them really needed something like this in their lives!
Thank You,
Amy
