alright yall need a little insight, i built a fiberglass core sword and i couldnt find thick fiberglass poles like electric fence poles so i went to home depot and got two of there 5/16 fiberglass drive way markers and used dap and ducktape to stick them together, i built an epic red sword but there is a problem, the sword is about 36" long on the blade and another 12" on the pommel. it bends easy and i think it might break on account of how big it is. what do you guys think is fiberglass supposed to feel this bendy or should i cut it down and rebuild the pommel? does fiberglass break easy?

That IS fairly thin fiberglass. A weapon shouldn't flex to the point of breaking. Try cutting it down into smaller weapons to reduce the flex. The hard part is finding anything that is at least 5/8. For a red if you want something that is around 48" I found a large fiberglass cattle whip thing at JAX that is really nice for a red core. Its gray and doesn't flex much. The one here in loveland is a combo store so it is also a farm and ranch. That is where I found it. So check your local Jax Farm and Ranch for the NON flexy fiberglass cattle whip thingy. They also said they had some electric fence post but when I found this thing I just left because it was uber and I was late to practice but I am sure it is worth looking into

The red I made with this thing is awesome!! I just wish I I could have used it at Gates but with how muddy it was it's not so bad. Definitely a good buy. I recommend whole heatedly

They are pretty cool, not too heavy either. For another core for a smaller sword, would a fiberglass, or normal, ski pole work? (Minus spike at end of course)

I have never used ski poles. Not sure how they would hold up to the impact. If they are anything like golf shafts then they wouldn't do so hot. You can try Kitespar. You can get it at Into the Wind in Boulder on Pearl street

went to jax and actually found the core you used lizard, but that was a bit too big for the couple of blues i wanted to make so i went with the gray electric fence poles instead. the are pretty thick and light wait, perfect for smaller swords. there only like a buck fifty too!!
