Hey everyone! It was nice to meet some of you at the Evans Medieval festival. I was the tallish guy hanging out on Saturday evening smoking the cloves. I've seen a few of you around at the Hafla's in Loveland and been chatting with a few of you about the game for a bit and thought I might give it a try.
I understand that I need a name and some basic costume things. In talking with Cryn / Othr1, I understand that your game allows all sorts of creatures and stuff found in D&D books, fantasy books, etc. One of the creature type things I found interesting was the Bugbear. Is this too far out there, or are there others who do this sort of thing? Does anyone have any pictures of people who do this?
On the name thing, how have people chosen names? I've recently started reading a lot about Taoism and find the concept of the uncarved block (P'u) very interesting. I was thinking about taking that as a name. It's kind of a play on words too... Pooh Bear, Bug Bear... not to witty, but hey.
Alternately, on the opposite end of the silly, there's the concept of being named the opposite of a bear... bull. Or, in Chinese, gong niu (gong you).
Any thoughts, comments?

Hey Kevon!
Awesome to see you've put some thought behind your interest in the sport. Really, the only requirement to getting started is showing up to any of our practices. Names and personas can often take some time to work into and there is no obligation for you to have completely nailed down either in order to participate. And so long as it remains within the vast realm of medieval fantasy/history its legit! So no, Bugbears are definitely not too far out there! I've met a few myself.
So, in short, my best advice is to get out there to a practice first and foremost. Everything else comes in time and there's always a loaner weapon or two lying around.
Hope to see you around my man!

When and were are your practices. I am F. F the Cap'n of the Black Company, here in Denver. We are looking to fight groups like yours. We are not Dagorhir, but we are interested in you guys. Many of the people in my Company have had dealings with Dagorhir, or even at one time where in Dagorhir. If you are curious as to what we do you can go to our website www.theblackcompanydenver.webs.com We are a bunch of stick jockeys but still looking to get into more trouble. I am always looking to learn differnet styles of sword and spear combat.
